There’s no point in burying the lede. The United States has one of the worst (if not the worst) healthcare systems out there. We pay the most and get the least in our health outcomes. Study after study has confirmed that compared to health systems around the world, we come in last. There, I’ve said it.

As men, we don’t always have it easy. We are taught from a very young age that both our feelings and our problems (mental and physical) should be kept to ourselves. As a result, we rarely discuss our health-related problems, and subsequently, have very little awareness of what is a real health problem, and what isn’t.

There’s nothing that will ruin a beautiful crisp, cool day faster than the tickle at the back of your throat that heralds the oncoming of a common cold. A cold can knock you on your back and make you feel like you’re a relentlessly dripping nasal faucet.

Pulses are amazing because not only are there benefits from eating them, but there are also benefits from growing them, both industrially on farms and at home. If you think you’ve never heard of pulses- think again!

Modern medicine has come a long way since the days of bloodletting and leeching and continues to make incredible advancements every day. Despite the incredible array of effective treatments available to us, “quack cures” that aren’t supported by the scientific method are still commonly used.

Humans have always been fascinated by the idea of living a long time — or even living forever. Legends of the Fountain of Youth and Holy Grail giving us immortality have led us on a search that has so far been unsuccessful. Yet, we haven’t given up on the possibility of finding everlasting life.

As soon as they reach the age of majority, everyone should take their health into their own hands. Whether that means switching from gummy vitamins to a real adult daily multivitamin, or just preparing thoroughly for your annual checkup, it’s important to feel like you’re in control of your health.
