Arthritis is a painful condition that anyone can develop. But did you know that there are different kinds of arthritis? And certain forms of arthritis, like ankylosing spondylitis, can affect specific areas of the body, leave you with crippling pain, and cause serious complications.

Psoriatic arthritis is a form of inflammatory arthritis that usually affects people who have a skin disease called psoriasis. Approximately 1 million Americans currently have psoriatic arthritis – a progressive disease that can cause serious joint damage. It is possible to develop this condition without first seeing signs of psoriasis; however, having psoriasis is the biggest risk factor for this form of arthritis.

When you’re living with any kind of arthritis, the pain can be terrible. Trying to cope with that pain and manage other symptoms like swelling, aches, and stiffness can be a lifelong challenge. Fortunately, there are plenty of pain relief options available.

Arthritis is the primary cause of physical impairment among American adults. According to the Arthritis Foundation, at least 54 million people over the age of 18 have been diagnosed with the disease in the U.S.  Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, damages the joints, limiting the ability to perform everyday activities.

The various types of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are collectively called psoriatic disease. These conditions don’t discriminate against gender, race or age. However, they’re typically seen in adults. Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are connected in numerous ways.
